Matthias Kaminsky, Co-Owner and Creative Director of GEAR; His biography on “Coming out, Aids, Cancer and Lust for Life“

Somehow "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop comes to mind when you read Matthias Kaminsky's book "Sie werden mich kennenlernen - Die Merkel kennt mich schon" (You'll get to know me - Merkel already does).

Born in 1969, Matthias grew up behind the Wall in Saxony during the Soviet era. And then comes the reunification and a new Matthias, as the tattooed and pierced man comes out.

He is pulled in by the parties and pulsating life, which he enjoys to the full. Since 1984 Matthias Kaminsky had been a licenced "record entertainer" in the GDR, later he was booked as DJ for large parties and raves.

Years later, he is now co-founder of GEAR Berlin, Creative Director of the Berlin GDR Museum, event organiser for the Expo and co-founder of "Rave the Planet", side by side with Dr. Motte, maker of the Berlin Love Parade.

An exciting, turbulent and colourful life full of surprises awaits the reader.
